About the Artist:
Tam's works have been regularly selected into international juried shows and have won several awards. In April 2016, his painting, "Good Morning, NYC!" has won the JAN GARY and WILLIAM D. GORMAN MEMORIAL AWARD in the prestigious 149th Annual International Exhibition of American Watercolor Society (AWS), in the historic Salmagundi Club, New York City, from April 4-24, and selected for the Travel Exhibition 2016 - 2017. In 2020, he became the youngest Singaporean to be awarded Signature Membership in the American Watercolor Society. His works have been featured in art publications, including the 17th Issue of the Art of Watercolor Magazine and selected as Winner in North Light Books' Splash 18: Value | Light + Dark Issue edited by Rachel Rubin Wolf. He has also been recently awarded the Nanyang Outstanding Young Alumni Award by his alma mater, Nanyang Technological University, for his outstanding achievements in art. T am has been active in both the local and international art scene, participating in group and solo exhibitions. He currently paints scenes both locally and abroad, with a modern approach to his painting technique. Tam is a member of the Singapore Watercolour Society, Singapore Art Society and also a Signature Member of the American Watercolor Society (AWS). He is represented by Artcommune Gallery in Singapore. His works have gained international recognition and have been exhibited in the United States, Canada, Belgium, Greece, Slovenia, Thailand, Hong Kong, China and Singapore.

About the Workshop:
In this 3-hour workshop by watercolour artist Tam Kwan Yuen, participants will paint a Singapore night scene in Van Gogh’s Starry Night style.

Participants will learn how to make lighting effects using watercolour, how to paint iconic buildings of Singapore and complete the painting using the trademark strokes of well-known artist, Van Gogh. You will also learn how to make a night scene look attractive by mastering the use of dramatic light using watercolour. The lights will illuminate from the moon, stars and windows of the buildings, while making the background dark.
