About the Artist:
On weekdays, Thain Lin manages and runs IT projects in a large professional business services firm. On weekends and during his leisure time, he passionately indulges in the process of creating artworks as a means of visually communicating and documenting the urban space around him. He usually paints in his favourite mediums of ink and watercolours of his pet architecture subjects – heritage buildings and shophouses. He also enjoys meeting people and helps his clients to paint their homes and favourite places. It’s almost a cliché to say that art is a way to communicate happiness, and that is evidently
shown in Thain Lin’s artworks.

About the Workshop:
Ink and wash (watercolors) is a popular and highly enjoyable sketching technique favoured by both professional artists and hobbyists alike. Shophouses are part of our social history and architectural heritage. In this course, Thain Lin will share his techniques in sketching and watercolouring the ubiquitous heritage shophouses. Thain Lin will guide participants on how to approach sketching a typical shophouse, and how to creatively apply watercolours on the ink sketch. Thain Lin’s techniques and approach are also applicable to on-site sketching (aka “urban sketching”).

All participants will receive high quality products consist of watercolor paints, watercolor papers, brush, ink pen and drawing tools to bring back after the workshop.
