About the Workshop:
Be inspired by Peranakan tile designs. The Peranakan community is known for their shophouses decorated with beautiful and ornate tiles. These intricate tiles can be found in the form of artistic panels at entrances, along hallways, and courtyards. Motifs such as birds, fish, fruits, flowers, and auspicious symbols are often featured on the tiles.

In this workshop, participants create their own Peranakan tile. From a variety of templates featuring Peranakan motifs and symbols, they will trace and transfer these onto a plain tile. They will be guided on painting techniques as well as characteristics of the Peranakan colour palette.

Participants will go home with a personalized decorative tile design!
